Accountants Inc.’s 2008 Compensation, Benefits and Workplace Trends Guide Coming Soon!
January 2008
Scheduled to be released at the beginning of February, the 2008 Accountants Inc. Compensation, Benefits and Workplace Trends Guide is the culmination of over 4,500 in-person interviews with accounting, finance and human resource executives nationwide. This year marks the 13th edition of this valuable accounting and finance resource, giving executives and hiring managers the latest information on some of the most pressing accounting and finance trends, as well as examining salaries from the executive to the support-level for over 40 major markets across the country.
This year’s Guide indicates a generally confident, yet cautious, feeling for the near future. The majority of the executives interviewed anticipated some level of growth for 2008, which is very promising as the U.S. economy continues to grapple with the subprime mortgage market crisis and housing industry turbulence. With rather dire predictions of how the housing downturn will ripple through other lines of business and spur unemployment, we find U.S. companies also challenged with rising oil prices, a weakened U.S. dollar, a tight credit market and the possibility of recession.
The Guide also explores employment and workplace trends, highlighting hiring managers’ focus on recruiting and retaining quality employees who exhibit solid job knowledge. These trends explain the anticipated increase in salaries for a majority of accounting and finance positions, where demand for tenured professionals continues to be strong and competition for recent graduates is expected to intensify. Additionally, readers will gain insight into the latest trends affecting companies and executives nationwide, such as:
- Year-over-year growth and the challenges faced
- What is being done to engage top talent
- The impending wave of retiring baby boomers
- How companies are preparing for the future with Business Continuance Planning
- How organizations are partaking in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
- The positive affects of Employer Brand Strategies
- The ways companies are dealing with the rising costs of healthcare and other benefits
Our goal is to provide you with information that will help you maneuver your businesses through the year ahead. If you have specific questions or needs, we welcome the opportunity to personally consult with you.
